Gorgeous images, I love this post!
ReplyDeleteWe brought a loaf back from our last trip to Vincennes in April but the Senior Partner didn't care for the texture of the bread.
That just meant that there was more for me to enjoy. I love it, especially toasted with lashings of salty butter from Bretagne.
I could spend the day (and night) there. The tartines are amazing. Wish someone would write a cookbook just on French tartines.

I wish I sill lived in Europe! European bakers are the best, especially the French.
ReplyDeleteLoved your photos!
I remember this store well. It never ceases to amaze me when I spring for a loaf in NYC (it's like $20 or so)
ReplyDeletehow darn good it is... big portion of that is you close your eyes and you are in PARIS!> Still, SO very flavorful. Gourmet Garage used to sell it in chunks (it is a VERY big and heavy loaf) and I used to pick it up. Best toast... awesome with cheese.
Great post, Barbara!
Oh, the memories! It was one of the better moments of a very rainy, cold trip to Paris one spring.
ReplyDeleteI wish I knew the name of the bakery my friend's stepmom's flat is near... I know it is so close that friend and her stepmom both ALWAYS snag croissants before they head to the airport.
ReplyDeleteLikewise, I'm on record as saying there's no bread like authentic NYC italian bread. Our day captain always brings a few loaves back when he goes up...
Barbara thank you for adding to our culinary adventure of our trip to Paris! The luscious images are truly making me hungry!

ReplyDeleteremember that comment you left about the DDPYoga?
Well, I started mine and I hope you consider buying it.
I am by NO means flexible, and have done ok with.
In fact, he stresses to go at your own pace, do what you can e=because eventually you will get there.
Pilates I hated, regular yoga I hate, and even hate walking. But this DDPYoga is good, very good.
Hope this helps my dear. (also your comment got a response, the comment you left at my blog :-)

ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful food! That's a Paris thing isn't it. Merci, Mary
ReplyDeleteI am also a huge Poilane fan! In fact, I lived and still return to a place just down the street from their shop on Blvd. de Grenelle! I love their window displays all made out of bread! In fact, you can see a few of them if you click on Poilane in my labels queue. So lovely to meet you and will have to return. A bientot, Kirsten
ReplyDeleteWhat a marvelous post to start my day! I'm late arriving to all the Parisian parties. Yours, my friend, is not to be missed. Parisian bread ~ the best!
